Who are you?
I’m a writer. I originally trained as a journalist, spent a few years writing adverts, and now I’m the proud author of Demon Strike.

How old are you?
Too old! I was born in 1969. I’ll let you work out the numbers.

Where do you live?
Yorkshire.

What’s your favourite book?
Aside from Demon Strike? The Hobbit. It’s incredible.

Where’s your favourite place?
Any beach. I love the beaches of Cornwall, and I also love Filey beach too, and the amazing North Yorkshire fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s bay. However, if I could be anywhere it would be St. Ives in the summertime. It’s true what they say about the light down there.

Who do you admire?
Well, as a writer of children’s fiction I’ve got to say J K Rowling. The Harry Potter phenomena that she created is, well, phenomenal. She’s clearly a genius. Joanna aside, it has to be J R R Tolkien. I grew up reading his magical books.

What did you do yesterday?
I followed Alannah Malarra through a pine forest in Scotland. She was chasing A.N.G.E.Ls of all things. That’s one spirited 12-year-old!!

Favourite TV program?
The US series, Battlestar Gallactica. The characters are incredible.

What can you do that’s special?
You mean apart from making an invisible stone drop into a paper bag and making my children laugh? Well, I suppose writing Demon Strike is pretty special. I’m certainly very proud of it anyway.
